It has been two weeks since MP R.Amarjargal submitted a request to resign from Parliament to the Speaker Z.Enkhbold.  However, the DP caucus rejected his request.

Speaker Z.Enkhbold commented on the MP`s resign request during an interview on television saying that “Parliament will review MP R.Amarjargal`s request to resign according to the rules of the Parliament of Mongolia. It is not only his own business. R.Amarjargal once served as Prime Minister of Mongolia.  He was nominated from DP and elected as a member of that Party in Parliament. So the seat in Parliament is not his asset. Therefore the DP caucus rejected his request.”

During the discussion of the budget amendments for 2014, MP R.Amarjargal raised questions about who would take responsibility for the 1.4 trillion budget deficit of the state budget 2013.

His statement was as follows:

“As far as I am concerned the Prime Minister and Finance Minister should stand for every digit in the budget. But both of them see 20-30 percent changes to the budget as nothing serious. I wonder who will take responsibility for such a bubble budget proposal? Will it be the majority group in Parliament that submitted the budget proposal, the Standing Committee on Budget or will it be the chairman of the Standing Committee? If there is no one to take responsibility for the budget deficit I will take it. I am ready to resign from Parliament. I do not understand the Parliament and the Government doing nothing as if it is nothing serious to waste 1.4 trillion MNT.”

Since submitting his resignation request MP.Amarjargal has not appeared in any meeting of the Standing Committee or Parliament session meetings.
