Defense and Armed Forces delegates from China lead by the People”s Liberation Army Deputy Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Wan Guanzhong, are making an official visit to Mongolia from November 13th to November 16th, 2013.

In honor of the official visit, the 7th Ministerial meeting between Defense Ministers of  Mongolia and China has been organized in Ulaanbaatar. The Defense Minister D.Bat-Erdene and the People”s Liberation Army Deputy Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Wan Guanzhong, discussed regional and world security, bilateral relations and cooperation and views on future perspectives.

Mongolia and China have historical neighboring relations and established diplomatic relations in 1949. Since then bilateral relations between Mongolia and China on politics, culture, education, trade, economy and defense has expanded intensively. Good bilateral relations between the two countries moved to a new level of comprehensive strategic partnership since 2011.

At the 7th Ministerial meeting between the Defense Ministries the parties discussed how to work out the issues raised during previous reciprocal high level visits and exchanged views and expressed stances on the current development of the defense of Mongolia and China and opportunities and challenges in cooperation and regional security.

The parties exchanged opinions on the advantages of cooperation opportunities for the defense industry and military techniques as the two countries signed a Military techniques  cooperation agreement during a visit by Defense Minister D.Bat-Erdene to China. The also discussed keep frequent joint military training by the Armed Forces of the two countries, to provide support of military weapons and techniques, train military personnel and also to involve the military division of the People”s Liberation Army in the Exercise Khaan Quest, the largest training exercises focused on peacekeeping operations that is held every year in Mongolia.
