The condition report found that the museum building, built in 1953, was structurally unsound and was at risk of collapsing.
Since last August, over 10,000 showpieces that were packaged and stored in the museum have been transported to a proper storage facility. The process of relocating items from the museum’s collection was undertaken over the course of a year.
The demolition of the museum’s showroom will begin soon and the first phase of building the new museum will commence next year.
