A man has been arrested at the Zamiin-Uud border as a suspect for drug smuggling. The Drug Enforcement agents of the Criminal Police Department”s Organized Crime Division and the State Investigation Department have initiated an investigation into the suspect who was arrested during an attempt to smuggling drugs across the borded. The suspect was arrested from Zamiin-Uud and brought to Ulaanbaatar City on Tuesday November 5th, 2013. Confirmed source says that the suspect was stopped while he was transporting drugs.

According to the source the suspect`s mother works at the Division of Internal Monitoring of Mongolian Customs General Administration as an Senior Customs Officer.

Civilians report that Drug Enforcement agents from the Criminal Police Department”s Organized Crime Division approached the General Authority for Border Protection with information. So the suspect was arrested at the Zamiin-Uud border check point on October 30th during an attempt to smuggle meth amphetamine or “ice”. When the suspect was stopped he was carrying 0.916 grams of the synthetic drug disguised as Marlboro.

However the suspect denied the charges and claimed that “I have no idea how this stuff went into my pocket. I did not intend to smuggle it. I think the Chinese did it intentionally to cause harm”.
