
These young people organized a flash mob in front of the Government House against the numerous bars and night clubs and lack of standard library access across the City for book readers.
Over 200 young people, students and individuals joined in the demonstration by sitting cross-legged and reading books for the silent scream flash mob organized by a book readers” club “Let”s engage with books”. They held slogan banners saying “We want a library not a night club”, “Let there be a library instead of distributing free allowances”, “We need a library not a bar.”
Ulaanbaatar City has a population of over 1.2 million citizens but there is not enough library access. There are only a few libraries in Ulaanbaatar City, the Mongolian National Library, the M.Gorky Library and the D.Natsagdorj Library, where 1.2 million citizens, most of them youths, reside.
