Mongolians still remember a black day when Zorig Sanjaasuren, one of the leaders of the 1990 democratic revolution in Mongolia, was brutally assassinated in 1998. On October 2nd family, friends and well-wishers today showed respect and put flowers on the Statue of the prominent leader of Mongolian democracy.

The mystery of the murder of the 36 year old prominent Mongolian politician who was in charge of the Infrastructure Ministry at that time is still unsolved even after 15 years has passed.

It was socially understood that the assassination was politically motivated but the case is almost forgotten amid speculation that there are political interests to cover up the murder.  Now the case moves further away from the truth. The Central Intelligence Agency, Police and Prosecutor have separated task forces to work on the case but the case is now at a dead-end.

Numerous suspects like Damiran Enkhbat, Ard Batsukh, U.Baatarjav and U.Bold were questioned and every person whose given name is Bat or Oyun was investigated over the case.

The Prosecutor General of Mongolia D.Dorligjav promised on the first day of his term as Prosecutor General, after President Ts.Elbegdorj won his second term in office, to keep continuing to try to solve the mystery of the murder and will not stop until the case is solved.

The statement by Prosecutor General of Mongolia D.Dorligjav brought hopes to the victim`s family and the public. Unfortunately the Prosecutor General`s statement is the first and latest recent news on the murder case.
