For the anniversary of the birth of prominent political figure, Yumjaa Tsedenbal, respect was paid to his statue on Tuesday 17th.

Members and supporters of the Mongolian People`s Party (MPP) annually show respect to the statue of Yumjaa Tsedenbal placing flowers on the figure.

During the event, the head of MPP, O.Enkhtuvshin said “There are so many people who are remembered in history but only a few resonate and shine out instead of fading as time goes by. The former leader of Mongolia who ruled for 44 years, Yumjaa Tsedenbal is one of them. He became a political envoy in 20th century Mongolia and dedicated his life to the fight. We know that it is hard to rule a party even for four year let alone 44 years. What he did in the past was for Mongolia`s good future”.

Yumjaagiin Tsedenbal played a big role in launching a campaign to have Mongolians literate and was awarded by UNESCO in the 1950`s. He made diplomat relations with 94 countries and joined over 60 international organizations by 1984.

Tsedenbal remained in exile in Moscow until his death. His body was brought back to Mongolia where it was buried in Altan-Ulgii in 1991.

After his death, the Statue of the prominent political figure was erected in front of the State Academic Drama Theatre and the place was been named after him.

The 100th Anniversary of the birth of Yumjaa Tsedenbal will be held in 2016.
