Mongolian Freestyle Wrestler wins the first bronze in six years

Yesterday a Mongolian athlete won the bronze medal during the first day of the 2013 FILA Wrestling World Championships in Budapest Hungary on September 16th.

For the first day of the scheduled men`s 55 kg, 66 kg and 96 kg events Mongolian athlete G. Mandakhnaran won Mongolia’s first senior-level world medal since 2007 when he beat Kang (PRK) for bronze by 3-1 in the 66 kg class. In the first round he defeated Ukrainian Semyon Radulov but lost to Cuba”s Livan Lopez in the semifinals.

Mongolian athlete, O.Purevbaatar won silver in the 2001 and 2002 World Championships and in the 55 kg category B.Naranbaatar earned bronze in 2005 and silver at the World Championships in Baku in 2007.

G.Mandakhnaran brought home the bronze medal in the 2013 FILA Wrestling World Championships six years after the last medal was won by Mongolia in Freestyle Wrestling. 

B.Naranbaatar, Mongolian Merit Athlete, is in charge of the Mongolian team for freestyle wrestling.
