Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Miasnikovich has begun an official visit to Mongolia today on September 4th. Prime Minister Miasnikovich landed from his specially registered flight at Chinggis Khaan International Airport on Tuesday evening.

Prime Minister Miasnikovich was welcomed by his counterpart Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag at Sukhbaatar Square this morning.

After a tete-a-tete the counterparts had a broader discussion on various issues.

According to the scheduled program the Mongolian Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag and Belarusian Prime Minister will have a press conference with journalists at 11.45.

Prime Minister Miasnikovich will also meet the Speaker of the Mongolian Parliament Z.Enkhbold and the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj respectively.

On the first day of his official visit Prime Minister Miasnikovich will see the Fine Arts Zanabazar Museum before heading to a banquet at Ikh Tenger Complex near Khan-Uul castle.

On the second day of his visit in Mongolia Prime Minister Miasnikovich will attend the Exhibition of Belarusian products and goods at the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and will attend the Mongolian-Belarusian business forum at the Corporate Hotel. A trip to Gobi, the Mongolian cashmere factory, has also been arranged.

Diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Belarus were established in 1992. Belarus is one of the countries where Mongolians require no visa for a 90 day period. Belarus follows the Mutual Non-Visa Agreement of 1979 between the Mongolian People”s Republic and the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic.  However occasionally there have been complications with this agreement for Mongolians in Belarus. Therefore a new agreement is being considered.

Currently there is no student exchange between the two countries. An unofficial study shows that 100 Mongolian people permanently reside in Belarus.
