
The Junior World Championships of the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA) began in Sofia, Bulgaria on August 13th. More than 600 of the top junior wrestlers aged 18 to 20 will be battling it out in the Arena Armeetz in the Bulgarian capital continuing until next Sunday (August 18th). These top junior wrestlers are representing 58 national wrestling federations from around the world, from all five continental organisations.
Mongolian wrestler S.Tserenchimed won gold in the female 59 kg class on the first day of the Junior Wrestling World Championships. Tserenchimed defeated Krystina Tsan (BLR) by TF, 12-4 preliminary round then opened up an early 6-0 lead with Ritu Malik (IND) in the 59 kg final and made a stand for a 9-3 triumph.
Tserenchimed survived in the semifinals defeating Petra Olli (FIN) by 6-3. She continued on to win the gold against Braxton Stone (CAN) with an amazing 9-3 lead.
There were 22 wrestlers competing in the female 59 kg class.
