A working
group led by MP Ch.Ulaan told Parliament Speaker D.Demberel yesterday that
reducing the number of government employees by 7,000 can save MNT50 billion this
year. The dismissed people can be given six months’ salary as severance pay,
which will cost MNT13.3 billion. Two other suggestions from the group to reduce
budget expenditure relate to spending less on MPs’ official trips and on developing
laws.
According to Ts.Sedvanchig,
another MP in the group, all state owned enterprises posted loss in 2009. Interestingly
enough, they had all made propfits in 2008, raising concern that the accounts
had not been prepared properly. MP D.Khayankhyarvaa said the companies had imported
expensive products in 2009 and this was why they showed a loss. The Speaker told
the working group to make a detailed inspection of state owned companies.
