
Immigration officials and the Deputy Chairman B.Tsolman met with Philippine citizen’s residing in Mongolia. During the meeting on July 19th the officials informed the Philippine citizens about the campaign. The officials notified the Philippine citizens about their legal status, the related laws and regulations and asked them to cooperate actively. They were warned that if the laws and regulations were not met and if they did not register within the campaign period, the related laws would be strictly adhered to.
In May 2013, 246 foreign nationals were deported from Mongolia due to not meeting the requirements for residency in Mongolia.
The Mongolian Immigration Agency stated that “In accordance with the Government agreement between our two countries, Philippine citizens can travel to Mongolia without a visa for 21 days and Mongolian citizens can travel to the Philippines for 30 days. Lately there have been many cases of Philippine citizens illegally immigrating to Mongolia and working as cleaners or child carers. We are trying to regulate this issue. Today there are 441 Philippine citizens in Mongolia”.
