
The new ammendments on Naadam regulate that the winner of nine rounds in the National Wrestling Tournament, with 1,024 participant wrestlers, will be awarded the title of avarga (Champion) before the final round. In this case the wrestler`s rank should be not below that of the Lion title. Further the wrestler who wins ten rounds will become the Grand Champion. Also the law regulates that a wrestler who wins eight rounds, but who loses the final round, will get the Lion title. A wrestler with the title of Lion who wins eight rounds twice will also get the Champion title.
The President commented that the law on Naadam should be discussed publicly in an open and nationwide manner and should take into consideration the opinions of professional associations in order to re-write the law to cover a wider range.
He continued, “Therefore I have vetoed the amendments to law on Naadam that was passed on July 5th 2013 according to Article 33.1 of the Constitutional law and Article 12 of the Presidential law of Mongolia.”
