The Embassy in Cairo is keeping in touch with Mongolian nationals in Egypt in order to give them notice on security issues due to the current situation of possible mass protests in the Egyptian capital Cairo. After a coalition of Islamist groups led by the Muslim Brotherhood called for demonstrations in response to the military coup that led to the ousting of Mohamed Morsi as the country”s President there has been unrest. There is no report of any fatal cases to Mongolians in Egypt.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia has issued a notice to travelers not to travel to Egypt if it is not urgent or necessary due to the security issues. The Egyptian Military took power after the coup, the situation is not peaceful yet.
