The first national contest for professional contortionists began on Friday June 21st.

The
National contest among professional contortionists dedicated to State
Prized, People`s artist, prominent contortionist B.Norovsambuu, is
expected to be held every two years from this year.

At the event the
State Prized People`s artist, contortionist B.Norovsambuu, recalled how
he joined the Circus of Mongolia 54 years ago. B.Norovsambuu wished
good luck to the contortionists who would take part in the contest.

Over 100 professional contortionists from Ulaanbaatar, Darkhan-Uul and Orkhon aimag participated in the contest.

The National contest started with a performance by “Khasyn urs” band from Orkhon aimag.

The contest is designed to discover new talent and to promote young talented contortionists to help them make their way.

The
Judges panel consisted of G.Oyun, the leading figure of culture,
Yu.Gerelbaatar, B.Batbaatar, circus art directors and S.Onon,  the
director of “Оn & Off” production and T.Tugsuu, a leading figure of
culture and choreographer.

Beside the contortionists` skill in their
art, the performance, dress, music choice, equipment and the audience’s
regard is essential in scoring.

Organizers say that the contest will be held every two years.
