The 20^th anniversary of the Democratic Movement of Mongolian Students was celebrated yesterday as part of the broader observance of the 20^th anniversary of the Democratic Revolution. The founders and first members of the movement paid tribute to S.Zorig before his statue before holding a meeting at the State Drama Theatre.

Hero of Mongolia MP E.Bat-Uul recalled the heady days when democracy was demanded and won, and called on the people to identify and correct the defects in today’s society. He was unhappy that democracy in Mongolia is turning into governance by oligarchs. He feared they would one day control the media, the judiciary and all other democratic institutions if there is no resistance from the people. Rule of money must not be allowed to prevail and, if necessary, a second democratic movement has to be launched.

He urged people not to exchange the future for today’s gains.
