
Over four hundred children were sentenced to jail time, 132 children were given educational charges and the remainder were given various other charges.
The convictions of 382 of these 428 children who were sentenced to jail time were delayed according to law.
Of these children 43 or 7.5 percent served their sentence in jail. These are children who pleaded guilty for felony and repeated crime.
Over the past four years, instances where conviction delay has been used for under age children has increased.
The convictions of 113 children in 2009, 353 in 2010, 362 in 2011 and 382 in 2012 were delayed according to law.
According to the study the number of under age children who involved crime has been increasing continuously for the past four years, but there was a decreasing trend in the first quarter of 2013.
Reports show that there were 386 children sentenced in 2009, 541 in 2010, 542 in 2011 and 570 children in 2012.
According to the study by the research center of the State Supreme Court the number of children who are involved in crime and charged has decreased by 17 or 10.8 percent.
