An incident where a 16 year-old boy was being held captive in his uncle`s outhouse in Khuvsgul aimag came to light.

The captive boy was revealed by neighbors` complaints and reports. The boy who has been in captivity for the past three years was found with a chain attached to his foot, dried blood all over his head and dozens of scares on his back. He was being kept in his uncle`s outhouse, measuring 1.3 by 3 meters without a window. The boy was at the edge of starvation and very thin and weak.

The boy was wearing tight shoes too small for him and the front of the shoes had been cut so the toes popped out.

The boy`s parents divorced many years ago so his uncle became his caretaker after his father died in 2009. It is reported that the uncle never let his mother see him whenever she came to Khuvsgul aimag.

Instead she was feeding the boy from a biscuit box and letting him drink from a jam bottle and giving a plastic bag t relieve himself.

The uncle who held his nephew is a teacher in Khuvsgul aimag. It was only revealed that the boy was being held captive for three years like a dog when one a neighbor found food stolen from their storeroom outside of their home and called the police.

Police suspected the poor boy with almost no clothes who had been held captive of the theft and arrested him. But during the questioning more serious things than theft were revealed. After the case came to light the boy`s mother was re-united with her child and took him to her home.
