President Ts.Elbegdorj attended the ceremony to offer
worship to Burkhan Khaldun mountain in Khentii aimag on May 31. “Burkhan
Khaldun is a historic mountain and we should try to get it on the UNESCO
heritage list,” he said.

The 2361.5-meter Burkha Khaldun was sacred to Chinggis
Khaan. No one is allowed to climb it, and the President suggested having an
ovoo at the base. Since 1995 all sacred mountains in Mongolia are offered worship
once every four years.
