MPRP members and supporters held another demonstration on Monday seizing the opportunity to catch the attention of representatives and ministers as they arrived at Culture Palace for performances on the last day of the 7th Ministerial Conference of Community of Democracies.  Demonstrators demanded the release of former president, the head of MPRP, N.Enkhbayar, holding slogan words “Mongolia has political prisoner” and “No political arrest, no political repression”.

The Secretary General of MPRP, P.Angarag said “We are expressing our stance opposing how human rights are being violated and repressed here. But we do not intend to protest against the 7th Ministerial Conference or interfered with it. We have gathered here only to raise our public voices.  Jailed former president N.Enkhbayar is an example that political repression is real in Mongolia”.

Former president N.Enkhbayar was sentenced to 4 years in jail for power abuse and corruption charges by the primary court. Following an appeal the court reduced the sentence to 2.6 years. But former president, the head of MPRP, N.Enkhbayar is now serving his jail term at the State Second Hospital due to health problem.
