A news story published on April 09th wrongly attributed a quote to the Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines, Mrs Erlinda Basilio. The quote was made by the President of Mongolia, Tsakhia Elbegdorj.
Today, April 9th, a number of new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiaries presented their credentials to the President of Mongolia, Tsakhia Elbegdorj. These included the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Mongolia, Toomas Lukk, the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy, Alberto Bradinini and the Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines, Mrs Erlinda Basilio.
President Tsakhia Elbegdorj received the ambassadors and congratulated them on their placement and thanked them for the presentation of credentials.
The President noted that in Estonia information technology and online media is highly developed. It is one of the leading countries of free Wi-Fi and internet freedom. Therefore he stated that there is a great opportunity for both countries to cooperate on IT and to share experiences in the field when he received the ambassador from Estonia.
Ambassador Toomas Lukk said that Estonia, a former socialist system, won against corruption after long battle. Mongolia is considered to be one of the countries where the corruption level is being reduced.
They exchanged views on cooperation against corruption. Toomas Lukk stated that he is willing to work to enhance the bilateral cooperation development between Mongolia and Estonia.
The President also expressed an interest to cooperate on the development of small and medium industries and design with Italy when he spoke with the ambassador from Italy, Alberto Bradinini. Mongolia has recently established an Embassy in Italy.
The President spoke with Mrs Erlinda Basilio, the Ambassador for the Philippines, on the economy and business cooperation. The President said that he became friends with the leader of the Philippines during the Davos economic forum.
The President noted the lowering of the perceived corruption level in Mongolia and stated that the Philippines had experienced a history of slow economic growth because of corruption levels. He congratulated her for her new position and stated that the Mongolian Government would support the work of the Philippines.
Ambassador Basilio conveyed the best wishes and warmest personal regards of the Philippines President Benigno S. Aquino III to the President of Mongolia. She expressed the keen desire of the Philippines to engage the Mongolian Government and business community to further broaden and deepen Philippine-Mongolian relations.
President Elbegdorj thanked the Ambassadors for presenting their credentials and expressed his hope that the Ambassadors will make a great contribution to expanding relations between Mongolian and their countries.
