The head of the renters` Trade Union, B.Baigalmaa, that represents thousands of renters in the market, has reported that the managers of the market violated renters` rights.
The Black Market, commonly called the centre for international shopping, has carried out its activity for 15 years since it first opened.
Currently over 30,000 renters and vendors work in the market. Most of them, or at least 70 percent, are female and 98 percent are couples who have worked in poor and unsafe conditions for years. The renters` Trade Union has delivered 26 project proposals, requests and claims to managers of the market over the past four years. However the market authority has not replied to their claims about groundless rent fees and poor condition. The only response was from the manager of the market, Tuvshinbat, who rudely refused their claims and insulted the representatives of the Trade Union, according to the head of the Trade Union, B.Baigalmaa.
B.Baigalmaa stated that the market forced renters to buy 800 metal boxes promising not to charge fees for services and luggage but then demanded 12,000 MNT from each renter. The market never signed a rent agreement with renters but charges illegally.
The renters` Trade Union delivered their claims to the authorities of the market, the Minister of Labor and female MPs but have yet to receive a reply.
