Japan wants to strengthen strategic partnerships

Mongolian Prime Minister, Norov Altankhuyag, welcomed the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Saturday March 30th.

At the beginning of the official visit the Prime Ministers of the two countries held a tete-a-tete  as well as official discussions.

The Prime Minister of Mongolia, Norov Altankhuyag, expressed thanks to the Japanese Prime Minister for visiting Mongolia as part of his first foreign visit, emphasizing that Japan pays attention to developing relations with Mongolia. Prime Minister Norov Altankhuyag also underlined the visit will strengthen friendly and trustful relations between the two countries, deepen mutual understandings and contribute to cooperation on the joint strategic partnership that was made in 2010.

Prime Minister Norov Altankhuyag said that he hopes two countries can establish a way of cooperation in the upcoming years..

In return the Japanese Prime Minister said that he hopes to start a new era of relations between the two countries with Prime Minister Norov Altankhuyag and expressed interests to strengthen cooperation on three main principles; democracy, peace and mutual assistance.

Mongolian President Tsakhia Elbegdorj received Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the second day of his official visit on Sunday March 31st.

At the beginning of the meeting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe again expressed that Japan is willing to deepen its strategic partnership with Mongolia.

President Tsakhia Elbegdorj said “We see this official visit as significant as Japanese people and the Government pay attention to relations between Mongolia and Japan.

We received the friendly letter from Mr Shiozaki. The beautiful greeting which you sent to the Mongolian people was posted in many newspapers. Our people received it with warm hearts.

Prime Minister, you suggested a clear message to strengthen strategic partnerships on democracy, peace and mutual assistance and further more to activate relations on politics, security, the economy and culture. We agree with your suggestion. We have opportunities to share with each other Mongolian mineral resources and Japanese high technology. We should encourage this to be realized.”

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe replied that “As you said I think also that Mongolia and Japan need strategic discussions on politics and security. Both our countries contribute to stabilization and peace in region and even in the international arena.

Mongolia is the country that makes great efforts to develop democracy. I want to thank Mongolia for hosting and supporting intergovernmental meetings between Japan and North-Korea last November.

The Prime Ministers of two countries made a joint statement after negotiations on Sunday March 31st.

Prime Minister Norov Altankhuyag emphasized that the negotiation was held in a mutually understood, trusted and friendly way.

The Prime Minister stated that the Government of Mongolia supports developing friendly relations and partnerships with its third neighbor. Developing and strengthening strategic partnerships with Japan is main diplomatic direction of Mongolia. The negotiation between the two countries is aimed to efficiently develop strategic partnerships in every sector, particularly to strengthen cooperation on economy.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said the Government of Japan is ready to cooperate with Mongolia intensively, developing strategic partnerships between two countries according to an appeal under the name of “movement”, which is designated to support the economic growth of Mongolia.

The two sides agreed to establish a process of Economic partnership negotiation in order to build a good environment for business, finance and investment and a friendly environment for mutually beneficial cooperation.

Mr Shinzo Abe stated the cooperation on supporting Mongolia to develop medium and long term development targets is of high significance in the Mongolian status in Japanese foreign policy.

For instance Shinzo Abe noted that Japan will cooperate with Mongolia in support of the building of a new international airport andthe oil refinery in Darkhan.

The Speaker of parliament, Z. Enkhbold, also received Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the second day of his official visit.

Japanese Prime Minister ended the official visit in Mongolia on the afternoon of Sunday March 31st.
