Turkey proposes visa fee waiver to visit Mongolia

The 7th intergovernmental committee meeting on economy and trade between Mongolia and Turkey began in Ankara, Turkey on Wednesday March 27th.

At the opening of the 7th intergovernmental committee meeting, the Minister of Defense for Mongolia, D.Bat-Erdene and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Bulent Arinc, made speeches and expressed their views on perspectives of economic and investment cooperation between the two countries in the near future.

The Minister of Defense for Mongolia, D.Bat-Erdene, stated that Mongolia is willing to cooperate with Turkey to construct apartments, roads and bridges, restructure the ger district into apartment blocks and build a leather tanneries complex bringing in new technology. Also to develop tourism by rebuilding Kharkhorin airport and creating a cultural and historical tourist site in beautiful Orkhon valley.

Minister D.Bat-Erdene expressed the interests in taking long time loans from Turkey to develop these construction and increase investment to Mongolia.

In return the Deputy Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Bulent Arinc, emphasized the opportunities to increase Istanbul-Ulaanbaatar flights and grant Turkish Nationals free visas to stay in Mongolia to reciprocate. He expressed interest in cooperation on the restructure of the ger district into apartments, constructing apartment blocks in Ulaanbaatar city in order to enlarge tourism and intensifying trade and business relations between the two countries.

At the committee meeting 50 representatives of ten Ministries represented Turkey while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, the Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Industry and Agriculture, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Construction and Urban Development of Mongolia, private enterprisers and representatives from the Mongolian Embassy acted for Mongolia.
