UK Government is backing a week long trade mission to Mongolia in June

Scottish firms operating in the renewable energy sectors are being urged to join a UK Government-backed trade mission to Mongolia later this year.

Mongolia, now recognized as one of the fastest growing economies in the world, is actively encouraging a renewable energy agenda.

The UK Government, along with the Mongolian British Chamber of Commerce, is organizing a renewable energy and sustainable mining trade mission from June 2 to 9.

David Scott, Mongolian Honorary Consul in Scotland and one of the trade mission’s organizers, said: “Scotland leads the world in many areas of renewable energy and there are huge business opportunities in Mongolia.

“The trade mission will give companies working in these fields the opportunity to showcase their technology and knowledge to an eager marketplace.

“Sgurr Energy, which is a Glasgow-based company, is already working on a wind farm at Salkhit in Mongolia and there are plenty of opportunities for other companies involved with renewable to do business out there as well.”
