A formal ceremony on Monday saw Satbir Singh present his
credentials as Indian Ambassador to Mongolia to President Ts.Elbegdorj.
Singh is not new to the region as he earlier served at India’s embassy in Moscow and was for some time acting
ambassador there.

The President welcomed Singh and hoped his tenure here would lead to further development
of the friendly relations between the two countries. In 1955 India was the first country outside the then
Soviet bloc to establish diplomatic relations with Mongolia.  Elbegdorj also mentioned that his first
foreign visit after assuming the presidency was to India, last September.  

Ambassador Singh expressed his happiness with his present appointment and pledged
to take bilateral ties to a new high.
