Earlier today, (23 August) the Mongolian Workers Union (MWU) held a press conference about the Cabinet decision to increase monthly salary. The Union announced that they will continue strike action and do not support the Cabinet decision which they have called a ‘fraud’. According to the MWU, the Cabinet is planning to convert teachers’ bonuses worth MNT 56.4 billion into a monthly salary increase of eight percent.

The MWU  is now calling for strike action across the nation on the first day of new academic year which will begin 3 September.
