Mongolia has eliminated its travel restrictions against people living with HIV.

With the reform enacted by Mongolia’s Parliament, UNAIDS now counts 44 countries that impose some form of restriction on entry, stay or residence based solely on one’s HIV status.

Mongolia is the second country to lift its HIV travel restrictions since the International AIDS Conference in July.

Under the reforms passed by the Parliament, foreigners applying for visas to Mongolia are no longer required to disclose or provide documentation of HIV status. Mongolia’s reforms also removed employment restrictions that prevented people living with HIV from undertaking certain jobs.
