Parliament on Thursday approved a resolution whereby the Mongolian
Livestock program will now cover veterinary and breeding services, improving quality
of herds, maintaining a proper balance between the number of different animals
in a herd, etc. The program, initiated by a group of MPs headed by
D.Baldan-Ochir, was described as “a new and big step” for Mongolian herders
toward developing an economically sustainable lifestyle. Better animal health care
will mean more export and more monetary return.
The budget for the total program is MNT1.4 billion, of which
35 percent will be the Mongolian contribution, with the rest coming from the World
Bank and other donor organizations.
