The
latest Government meeting decided to set up without delay a South Gobi Regional
Development Council in terms of the agreement with Ivanhoe Mines. The Council
will assist the government in preparing strategic plans and the budget, and in
seeking finance for programs and then implementing them. Its main areas of work
will be population and city planning, infrastructure development, and ensuring sustainability
and stability of the Oyu Tolgoi project. Kh.Badamsuren will chair the Council.

The
meeting also discussed matters related to the proposed Development Bank  and decided to take them up again at the next
meeting.
