
President Ts,Elbegdorj raised questions over the inflation of the project costs during an open discussion on the report of Oyu Tolgoi at the Cabinet meeting with the Prime Minister last Friday.
The Oyu Tolgoi project controlled by Rio Tinto produced its first concentrate this week and is on track to start supplying metal and paying royalties by June.
In meetings scheduled next week, Rio Tinto and the Mongolian Government will have tough negotiation over the Oyu Tolgoi project costs. Negotiations will also be held on the Mongolian proposal to be represented in all the most important decision making departments of the project: financial, procurement, legal, sales and project services and to increase the number of Mongolian companies use as service and supply providers for the project.
