The Ministry for Mining submitted a draft proposal to the Government on Thursday requiring hand digging miners to stop in Nalaikh coal mine.

A study showed that a total of 198 coal miners died at the coal mine in the past two decades. According to estimations by the Mine Rescue Department almost 1413 coal diggers carry out mining at 174 open pits at Nalaikh coal mine. The Ministry for Mining stated that the Government is supposed to discuss the proposal on Saturday during a press conference to journalists.

If the proposal is passed, manual coal digging action will be halted and a standard coal mine established at the resource rich part of the mine that is significant for industry and for creating jobs for residents.
