Public debate has once again been sparked by an incident where medical doctors failed their responsibility, jeopardizing a patient`s safety.

A young mother of three suffered mental unrest because medical doctors left bandages in her womb after a caesarian operation.

Khongorzul, a healthy 32 years old, gave birth with the help of a caesarian operation, under the control of medical doctors Oyungerel, Batzaya and nurse Ganchimeg at III Maternal Ward Clinic on September 8th in 2011.

The casualty suffered from acute abdomen pain since the caesarian operation. She went to see doctors at the Medical Center in Bayanzurkh district for tests but doctors could not diagnose the symptoms. But the woman`s health condition worsened..

Almost two years after the incident the woman had an operation to discover the cause. A meter long bandage was found in her womb at the Military Central Hospital last November.

Doctors removed the bandage from her womb; however this could not help her on her way to recovery and did nothing to relieve the mental strain she experienced.

The victim`s family asked for help from the III Maternal Ward Clinic but the Chief physician, D.Bat-Ochir, ignored them suggesting they meet with TV reporters.

The disgraced medical doctor Oyungerel spoke to the family on the phone and suggested monetary compensation. Medical doctor Batzaya and nurse Ganchimeg have not been in touch with the casualty.

Local reporters wanted to see the doctors and the nurse who were involved with the incident, but they have refused to be interview by the media.

Currently the casualty is in an uncertain condition with no clinic help.
