Medical doctors and nurses from the Policlinic for state officials have planned a hunger strike on Independence Square on Tuesday. According to local reports police seized their ger and slogan boards for the hunger strike at around 11:00 pm last. According to a member of MPRP, MP O.Baasankhuu, “even Chingeltei district police seized their staff forcefully and threatened N.Narantuya, the Deputy Chief for Treatment from the Policlinic that if they went on a hunger strike they would be arrested”.
A new building for the Policlinic for State Officials was scheduled to become operational in the first quarter of this year. But Kh,Temuujin, the Ministry for Justice announced during a Cabinet meeting last August that the new Policlinic building will be used as offices instead. This decision was accepted by the Government.
But medical doctors, nurses and staff opposed this decision claiming they should use the building for clinical purposes and announced they would go on a hunger strike.
