Mongolian State Laureate Athlete, the first Mongolian mountaineer who climbed Mount Everest, Usukhbayar Gotovdorj, is planning a voyage to the Arctic.

Passing the Arctic Ocean to reach the North Pole at 90 degrees N latitude will be a historical journey for a Mongolian.

Elbegdorj Tsakhia, the President of Mongolia is supporting this voyage.

State Laureate Athlete Usukhbayar Gotovdorj has climbed the world’s highest mountain Everest, McKinley in North America, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and Mount Elbrus in the western Caucasus mountain range.

The American explorer Frederick Albert Cook reached the North Pole in 1908. It is believed 240 people have reached the North Pole since that time.

State Laureate Athlete Usukhbayar Gotovdorj is scheduled to announce his voyage to the North Pole at the Central Sport Palace at 11.00 am on January 21st.
