The Mongolian Mineral Draft Law has been publicly discussed. Due to a hot dispute and different views on the Mineral Draft Law, the Presidential Office of Mongolia is holding an open discussion today. The open discussion to reveal public views on the controversial Mineral Law started at 9.00 am this morning.

Before submitting the Mineral Draft Law, two big discussions were held at the Civil Hall in Government House in order to collect public views.

A working group established under the Presidential Office designated the Mineral Draft Law.

The Mineral Draft Law is expected to be passed in the session next Autumn in parliament after being discussed by the public.

The Minerals Law of Mongolia, approved in 1997 was amended in 2006, but Parliament again debated a revision of the Law last spring. He discussion in May ended without approval of a new law as lawmakers views differed on some issues. This created an unclear legal environment for the Minerals Law.
