The 30th Mongolian poetry festival will be held at 6.00 pm at the State Academic Drama Theatre on January 9th. Kh.Chilaajav, the head of the board for the Committee of the Mongolian Writers` Union and G.Munkhtsetseg, the Executive Director of the Committee held a press conference about the up-coming Crystal Cup 30 Poetry Award night.

In the past the Mongolian poetry festivals have been held in the countryside. This time Mongolia’s biggest poetry festival will be held in Ulaanbaatar city because it is the 30th anniversary.

Kh.Chilaajav, the head of the Committee of the Mongolian Writers` Union said the poetry festival is followed by good and bad remarks whenever it is held. Judging poetry is almost impossible. But there is a need to announce at least a winner. Because of this a big prize is not given to the winner, it is after all a poetry festival, not an award presentation.

Kh.Chilaajav believes this festival is significant to the survival of the Mongolian language and culture.

This time the poetry festival is special because some poets from Inner Mongolia will participate. Some fans of poetry will also be invited to the festival free of charge.
