Every year citizens traditionally welcome the New Year by watching the New Year’s tree lighting ceremony on the central square. 

Currently preparation works for the New Year`s tree decoration are under way. The lighting ceremony will be held 06.00 pm on Sunday. Today E.Bat-Uul, the Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar will light the New Year`s tree decorations with the help of children. The New Year`s 25 meter high tree will be dressed with green deel and decorated with baubles and various colored streamer lights.
