Gold and copper exports declined while coal exports surge

Coal export reached 18.8 million tons in the third quarter. Mongolia exported 18.4 million tons of coal in the third quarter last year.  This year there has been 151 billion 820 million MNT income from coal export which was stockpiled for the State budget.  The total coal export was estimated to be 24 million tons last year.

In contrast to the rise of coal export, gold export has declined.  Mongolia exported 2.3 tons of gold this year. But the gold export volume was 3.2 million tons last year.  Experts say that the gold output for export increased to 5.5 million tons from last year`s 5.4 million tons.

There is also a decline in the copper exported. Mongolia exported 544,000 tons of copper last year. But this year only 524,000 tons of copper were exported.

There is an increase for both iron ore output and export. Mongolia exported 5 million and 85 thousand tons of iron ore last year and this year 5 million 743 thousand were exported.

According to a report by N.Erdenesan, the Vice director of the Statistics of Macro Economy in the National Statistics Committee, Mongolia produced 7 million 162 thousand tons of iron ore this year. But iron ore output was 5 million 485 thousand last year.
