“Mineral Resources–Reference Material” conference to be held

The second international conference held by the Central Geological Laboratory (CGL) will start on Tuesday, November 27th. Around 140 personalities from the international Certified Reference Material (CRM) community, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), International Association of Geoanalysts (IAG), relevant Mongolian government bodies, mining companies and universities are assembling in the “Kempinski Khan Palace Hotel” in Ulaanbaatar city. The conference will be held fr tw days to exchange views on the many aspects of CRM. Participants will listen to a broad range of speeches presented in three sections:
-Mongolian Mineral Resources Policy
-Certified Reference Material from A to Z
-General Issues on Geology, Mining and Environment

The event will start with introductions and welcoming remarks contributed t by Mr. B. Batjargal (General Director of CGL), Mr. P.Schaller (Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mongolia), Mr. Ch.Otgochuluun (Head of the Strategy and Planning Department of the Ministry of Mining, Mongolia), and Mr. D. Bold (Head of the Geology Department of the Mineral Resources Authority, Mongolia).

About the importance of CRM:

Technical assurance, safety in production and the protection of human essentials like health, environment and natural resources are dependent on reliable measurements. The use of certified reference materials safeguard that calibration and measurement results are based on proven international standards (ISO, for example). Thus reference material is getting more and more important for economies and societies worldwide.

The organizer, Central Geological Laboratory CGL, is the sole Mongolian CRM producer and was founded in 1957 as a state-run company. CGL is the leading professional organization in Mongolia to offer a comprehensive range of mineral analysis techniques as well as environmental testing. CGL is accredited internationally.
