The National Center for Standardization and Metrology has held discussions among mining representatives to change opinions in order to adopt the “Labor safety and sanitation-18001” standard  in Mongolia. The discussion is supposed to develop one standard that can be applied in both  small and big sectors. Therefore the discussion intends to gather representatives from every sector which runs small and big business in various fields.

There is no current standard that must be adhered to in every business sector in Mongolia. But some large mining companies operating in Mongolia follow ISO 26000 voluntarily.

The technical supervision expert in the National Center for Standardization and Metrology, S.Soronzonbold, said that “Every company will have to follow the Labor safety and sanitation -18001 standard in the future, which regulates labor and health and safety measures. Therefore it is open to the public to give their opinions.” The National Center for Standardization and Metrology plans to develop a standard Labor safety and sanitation -18001 by the end of this year.
