Reports say that a new wave of petrol price increases is coming to Mongolia. There is sound reasoning behind these reports. Russia, the only and largest petrol supplier to Mongolia has faced domestic petrol shortages. Russia’s largest oil refineries are undergoing technical reforms because the AI-92 type petrol is widely believed not to be up to standard. The reforms began in Russian oil refineries near the border of Mongolia. Due to the reforms Russian oil refineries are unable to supply the production demand and as yet are unable to start commercial production. When the largest supplier Rosneft exported AI-92 petrol for 44 US dollars per ton, Mongolia incurred the loss last October. But Rosneft increased the petrol price up to 49 US dollars per ton this month. Therefore the price of AI-92 petrol surged up to 93 US dollars in October and November this year in Mongolia. Imported winter diesel costs also increased up to 90 US dollars in October. But this month the diesel price is likely to be increased by an addition 55 US dollar.
Reports say that there is no price change for A-80 benzin. But the main price increase will occur for AI-92 and diesel.
As a result petrol prices will be increased 200 MNT per liter in Mongolia. The increased price imported petrol will arrive in Mongolia on 3rd November.
A-80 petrol imported through Naushki port will remain at the price set last October, 1133 US dollars.
АI-92 petrol was imported for 1345 US dollars per ton last month but will be subject to a 3.6 percent increase, rising to 1394 US dollars this month.
Diesel was imported for 1151 US dollar per ton last month but now the price has risen by 55 US dollars or 4.8 percent to 1206 US dollars.
Russian portal sites are reporting that the changes in oil product prices from Rosneft are due to Rosneft being in talks with a British company over the sale of six percent of its stakes.
