
Workers of the100 percent Chinese invested PetroChina Daqing Tamsag LLC, which runs petroleum operations in Dornod aimag, are making a call to strike on October 10th in order to have wages increased and conditions improved.The Union of Mongolian Transportation, Refinery Trade Unions of Mongolia, and the Trade Union of PetroChina Daqing Tamsag previously made an announcement to call a strike on August 31st.The workers noted that the company failed to increase basic pay in the past 5 years as state staffs` salary increased 2-3 times in the claim. They also said that crude oil prices in the market have increased two to three times in the past several years. The company workers, who work in harsh conditions,are paid less in contrast to the other local mining workers who earn more than $1,000 per month. The company workers requested to have their salaries increased doubly. They also insisted that they will block the export of oil through the border unless the company agrees to their demands.
