
On September 26th online site Baikal daily based out ofBuryatia and the Russian journalБиржевойлидер reported that Mongolia had declared a nationwide quarantine due to twenty reported victims of the marmot plague. They went on to say that the deadly disease might spread to the territories of Russia. However, the ZoonozNational Center for Infectious Diseases announced that the report was false. According to the regular reports by the Center no plague report has been registered in Mongolia for over 10 months. In August last year ZoonozNational Center for Infectious Diseases received a report of a suspicious case but testing proved it was not the plague.
