The coming
school year will see the same text books being used by secondary school
students all over the country. The Government has taken the decision following
continued criticism of the quality and contents of a number of text books. The
problem came out in the open when, with schools closed because of the swine flu
scare, lessons were conducted through television and the differences between
the several text books followed in schools were revealed.

G.Batbaatar,
an official at the Secondary Education Department of the Ministry of Education has
said the Minister has issued an order that from this autumn all secondary schools
will have the same books. This will also help those who have to move to another
school in the middle of the year, as they will nor have to buy new books. The books
will be written by experts and the copyright will be held by the Government.

Text
book for grades 1-3 will be provided free to students, those for the 4^th
grade will be subsidized 40 percent and those for upper grades 60 percent.
