Châteauroux-Déols airport in France seemed like a farmyard when 180 breeding
cows arrived at the airport for a flight to Mongolia.
France”s EFIS Air chartered a Boeing 747 freighter for the 9,000-kilometer
flight to Ulan Bator. The shipment consisted of 150 limousin and 30 montbéliarde
cattle that will be used to establish the breeds in Mongolia, EFIS officials
said in a statement.
The cows were loaded into specially created shipping pens. “Moving
livestock requires great care and attention to ensure the welfare of the
animals and to meet all of the regulatory requirements,” Alain Boussard,
managing director of EFIS Air, said.
