Pamela Cox, World Bank Regional Vice
President for East Asia and Pacific, will
visit Mongolia on September 19-22 for the first time since assuming her current
role in January this year.
Ms. Cox, a development professional with more than 30 years experience,
will meet with government counterparts to discuss how the World Bank Group can
continue to support the development of Mongolia and help improve the lives of
its citizens, in particular the most vulnerable.
“Mongolia is on the cusp of economic
transformation, and we are working with the government and other partners to
help the country turn its mineral wealth into a source for sustainable and
inclusive growth,” said Ms.Cox. “I look forward to visiting Mongolia to better
understand the country’s development challenges, so we can help create
opportunities for all.”
Ms. Cox previously worked as Vice President for the Latin America and the
Caribbean Region of the World Bank, playing a leading role in supporting
inclusive growth in emerging economies and providing innovative and practical
financial and knowledge services to meet developing country needs.
During her visit Ms. Cox will
meet with Government officials, the private sector, civil society groups, development
partners and journalists.
As Vice
President for East Asia and the Pacific, Ms.Cox
manages more than 1,000 staff working across 22 countries – including Mongolia—
and a US$30.2 billion lending portfolio.
