Toronto-listed Turquoise Hill Resources (THR) on Monday said it had
appointed Charles Lenegan and Jeffery Tygesen
to its board of directors.
The appointment of Tygesen, who currently serves as VP copper development at
majority shareholder Rio Tinto, strengthened Rio Tinto’s influence within the
company. Lenegan currently serves as a director of Oz Minerals Limited and as
nonexecutive chairman of Rey Resources Limited.
Board chairperson David Klingner said the two would bring
valuable experience and knowledge to the board as it moved towards production
at its flagship Oyu Tolgoi copper/gold mine, in Mongolia.
During May, former Rio Tinto executive Kay Priestly was
appointed CEO of Ivanhoe Mines, the forerunner of THR.
