Korean beers are going down a storm
overseas, especially in other Asian countries where interest in K-pop and the
Korean Wave remains rampant.
New figures show beer exports have risen by a total of 56.3 percent in the past
three years. According to the Korea Customs Service, beer exporters raked in
US$65.4 million last year, compared with $41.8 million in 2009. Last year,
173.6 million bottles of beer were shipped overseas.
By country, the biggest importer of Korean beers was Hong Kong, accounting for
38.5 percent, followed by Mongolia and Japan at 12.6 percent and 12.2 percent,
respectively.
