The Standing committee on Security and Foreign
policy did a first discussion of law on Regulation investment by foreign
state-owned firms in strategic assets.

The working group headed by N.Enkhbold introduced
proposals on what is the strategic assets, how to determine companies and what
is a concept to be mutually beneficial. The working group reduced number of
strategic sectors from 20 to 3. “A list of strategic sectors seems long. It
might be excite foreign investors. Therefore proposing to reduce” said
N.Enkhbold.

The sectors which working group proposed to be
strategic is mining, banking and communication and media.

MP L.Bold criticized that draft law not well
introduced to the public and rush discussion makes Mongolia in shame. “Foreign countries
understood us Mongolia going to drive out investors except two neigborn-China
and Russia” said L.Bold. But MP, Foreign Minister G.Zandanshatar denied L.Bold’s
view. “Draft law was submitted to the parliament two years ago. But some
politicians spreading wrong message. Main concept is to determine strategic
sector and if foreign investment over 49 percent in strategic sectors have
require permission from government” said G.Zandanshatar. D.Zorigt, MP and the
Minister of Mineral and Energy expressed he also support draft law. “It is a
time to have such a law” said D.Zorigt.
